Understanding your quote

Lab-Grown Engagement Ring Costs in Australia

A lab-grown engagement ring's price depends on the selected diamond, its documented characteristics, the metal and the setting. Compare the complete ring in Australian dollars, including the agreed specifications, applicable taxes, delivery and services. Julea's catalogue starting prices and shown diamond weights are illustrative; the pictured size may cost more. Your personal quote confirms the selected diamonds, IGI documentation, metal, size and final price.

What does a complete engagement-ring price include?

Start with the finished ring you want to commission. A useful quotation describes the selected diamond or diamonds, the metal and setting, the ring size, the work involved and the agreed services. It should make clear which details are settled and which still need your confirmation.

Ask for the complete amount payable in Australian dollars, with the inclusions and any additional charges explained. The ACCC's price-display guidance explains total prices, unavoidable charges and the treatment of extras that cannot yet be quantified. For your comparison, record the total alongside the specifications it covers.

Check what an advertised amount describes
Price descriptionWhat it coversWhat to establish
Loose diamondA stone rather than an assembled ring. The setting, manufacture, sizing and other inclusions needed for a finished ring.
Setting onlyA mounting or design, which may exclude the centre diamond.Exactly which stones and work are included.
Complete ring quoteA specified ring and its stated inclusions. The configuration, total payable, exclusions and quotation validity.
Catalogue starting indicationAn illustrative starting point for discussing a design. The available configuration and a confirmed personal quote.

These descriptions help you compare offers. For a Julea commission, your personal quote confirms the proposed piece and the price for its agreed configuration.

What changes the quote for a lab-grown diamond ring?

Julea's diamonds are lab-grown with IGI certification. Your quote confirms the selected diamonds, their report details and the stones the documentation covers.

Compare the documented characteristics of the stones you are considering, including weight, measurements, colour, clarity and cutting information where reported. IGI describes the information in its laboratory-grown diamond reports, including the limits of assessing stones in a mounting. The shape name, such as round or oval, does not by itself describe cut quality. Our IGI documentation guide explains what to check.

Carat weight is one part of that comparison. Separate the centre diamond's weight from the combined weight of all diamonds in a ring. A headline weight alone leaves important details open, especially when one design has a single centre stone and another adds side stones or a diamond-set band.

The proposed metal, setting construction, band dimensions, finish and size also belong in the quote. A solitaire and a three-stone ring involve different design decisions; changing a metal may change other details of the proposal. Ask for the resulting specification and complete amount rather than assuming a fixed surcharge. Our platinum and gold guide explains the material questions.

How can I compare two quotes fairly?

Write the same information beside each quotation. Two rings described with the same carat weight may have different centre stones, settings, metals or services. If a field is missing, ask for it before treating the amounts as comparable.

Use this checklist with each quotation
FieldDetails to confirm
Total and currencyThe complete AUD amount, quotation date, validity and what can change it.
Diamond originThat the proposed diamonds are lab-grown.
Centre diamondShape, weight, measurements and documented colour, clarity and cutting information where reported.
Side or accent diamondsTheir details and weight, distinguished from the centre diamond and combined diamond weight.
IGI documentationThe report identifier and type, matching details and the stones covered. Do not assume every accent has a separate report.
Metal and constructionKarat or fineness, alloy, colour, finish, setting, band dimensions and ring size.
Work and servicesThe manufacture, setting, sizing and other services expressly included.
Tax and deliveryApplicable taxes or duties, shipping and insurance arrangements, charges and total payable.
Payment and timingDeposit, balance, estimated production and delivery, and feasibility of your requested date.
Later care or changesResizing conditions, maintenance, repairs and any additional charges.

A grading report helps identify and describe the diamond; it does not supply a complete-ring price. Keep the report details and agreed ring specifications with the quotation so that you can check the same proposal when you are ready to proceed.

What does Australian spending research actually tell us?

Budget attitudes are a different measure. Finder's survey, published on 15 October 2026, reports that 69% think an engagement ring should cost less than three months' salary. Its cited results come from 1,006 respondents surveyed in August 2026, with survey operation by Qualtrics. Those are opinions about spending, rather than actual purchases or lab-grown ring prices.

Use the specifications and complete quotation for the ring you are considering to decide what fits your plans. Neither survey establishes the amount you need to spend on a Julea design.

How should I read Julea's starting prices?

Starting prices and shown diamond weights are illustrative. The pictured size may cost more. Your final quote confirms the selected diamond weight, certification, metal, sizing and price.

A catalogue page gives you a design to discuss. It does not settle the price of every possible diamond weight, grade, size or metal variation. Tell us what you like about the design and which details you would like to explore; keep the confirmed proposal as the basis for your decision.

Explore Arabella's 14K white-gold solitaire, Beatrice's 18K white-gold three-stone design or Elodie in 18K rose gold. These illustrate different constructions and materials, rather than price tiers. The catalogue visuals do not identify the diamond that will be selected for your order.

What should I confirm about delivery and later care?

Ask for the shipping charge, insurance arrangements and estimated delivery to your destination, alongside any applicable tax or import charges. Julea's shipping and returns policy explains that delivery estimates and charges are confirmed with the order, and that international orders may incur destination-country charges.

For sizing and later care, request the conditions that apply to your actual construction and finish. Confirm any included resizing, its limits, and the options and charges for maintenance or repairs. Keep those terms with your order rather than assuming that every design or finish has the same care needs.

How do Julea's deposit and timing work?

Custom and made-to-order pieces require a 50% deposit to confirm the order and begin design, stone sourcing or production. The remaining 50% balance is due before dispatch or collection. Production and delivery usually take 6–8 weeks after the deposit; the estimated window is confirmed with your quote. See our payment terms and delivery guidance.

If you have a proposal date in mind, share it during the first discussion and ask what can be achieved. Delivery dates remain estimates. Review the complete specifications, payment terms and policy before confirming the order.

  • Choose a design or describe the ring you have in mind.
  • Confirm the selected diamonds and their IGI documentation.
  • Agree the metal, setting, size, complete amount and inclusions.
  • Check the payment terms and estimated production and delivery window.
